Bolstering our investment in U.S. operations, Karma has installed a new suite of state-of-the-art powertrain test labs at our Irvine headquarters.
At a cost of nearly $7.5 million, the new equipment strengthens our in-house engineering capabilities as we prepare for a period of rapid new product introductions. Our powertrain engineers will use the labs as a testbed for a variety of product-development activities including evaluating the performance and durability of electric motors, generators, and range-extended powertrains.
These new resources will help us improve efficiency, speed product development times, and reduce engineering costs by decreasing our reliance on outside labs for this type of work.
The new equipment includes a traction dynamometer, electric motor dynamometer, and an engine/generator test cell, all used for powertrain optimization.
The labs are expected to be fully operational in a few months and our aim is to eventually allow other companies from numerous industries to use our state-of-the-art testing facility.
